Changing Engines (AGAIN) (Moving to UPBGE)

Yes, I’m switching engines AGAIN. This time, I’m moving to UPBGE.

No, I have nothing against Godot at all. I was just doing my research on this new engine and decided that there are more pros using it than Godot.

  • UPBGE is built from Blender- I’m more familiar with Blender than I ever will be with Godot. I know how to get around, using it in a graphical sense. Like shaders, nodes and stuff. I can get to that. No problem. Godot is a completely new ball game for me and has an interface and other things I’m not to familiar with.

  • Less model issues- As a 3d game developer, we all know that models that you make in different programs other than the game engine could have some issues when it comes to importing. It hasn’t happened to me, (at least not yet, anyway) but I didn’t know how to deal with imported vrm models in Godot. I guess it doesn’t have so much support, whereas Blender? That can be arranged. I make my models and creations in Blender (and VRoid) anyway, so the fact that I don’t have to worry about my models looking different than it supposed to is a plus to me! Also, I know how to change the materials.

  • Animation- I tried researching how to import or make animations on Godot, but it’s something I’m stuck on… UPBGE is something that can be arranged. Especially since Blender was made to animate in.

So that’s about it.

The controls I used in that video were janky as hell. I need to fix it.

I also wanted to make a game with the way my shaders look in Blender too, so this is a plus. Hopefully, this comes out as a beautiful looking game. (And also fast enough to play on a normal computer.)

Thanks for reading; have a nice day!
