Moving to Godot

If you haven’t heard already, Unity is going to impose a Unity Runtime Fee next year. If your game passes a threshold of making $200,000 with 200,000 downloads, they’ll charge the developer 20 cents per install. That is not fair to anyone! I’ve never seen so much greed in my entire life. You shouldn’t have to pay for your success.

Don’t worry, I’ll be making my content free for a while, including this game. This fee won’t effect me, but as a game dev, that ain’t it.

So until they rollback this change (or fire the CEO), I don’t think I’ll be using Unity for my projects anymore. I just can’t bring myself to support such a company who are willing to betray it’s users like this.

With that though, it’s going to take me some time to get used to Godot Engine; I’ve never used it in my entire life.

The next devlog? That’s going to be delayed for now. I’m sorry. I hope you all understand.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day.
